Crappie Fishing Report for Week of April 13, 2015.

Another week of high winds and rain have made finding the Crappie challenging. We are finding them but they are scattered in about 7 to 10 feet of water, and some even deeper. We are still long line trolling in as I stated in about 7 to 10 feet of water looking for those humps and ditches around creeks that lead to spawning areas. One area that we have had some success in finding some keepers have been in protected pockets under docks (I suggest older docks). Some nice slabs have been pulling under there and we are having some good success. The best advice during times like these is to keep moving, cover a lot of water and you can still catch a good number of keepers.

The colors we have had success with this week have been the Bobby Garland Slab Slay’R in black and chartruese. When the sun gets high we have been going to black and pearl. We have been throwing a 1/24th ounce Bobby Garland Mo Glo head in pink and chartreuse.

Come on out to Weiss Lake and let’s get after some of these big ole slabs out here, the weather is going to get better and the bite will be on! Give me a call or go to my website and book your trip today. Call me at 256-390-4145 or go to Be safe out there and I’ll see you on the water!
