Weiss Lake Crappie Fishing Report
March 9, 2015
Well, for once the weather man was right and we had some decent weather over the weekend on Weiss Lake. So good in fact that my clients each caught a limit of some good size slabs. (See picture) Right now on Weiss the water temperature is still on the cool side with temperatures reaching the upper 40’s. The crappie are hanging tight in 12 to 14 feet of water, and what I’m doing is dragging a double 1/24th ounce Bobby Garland M0-Glo head with a piece of split shot. I’m varying my trolling speeds to get my baits down to the right depth and when we find that sweet spot it’s like a fire drill.
Bites are not aggressive right now so really watch your rod tips. Colors are key this time of year and I’m having the most success using the Bobby Garland Slab SlayR in either Bubble Gum Chartreuse or Black and Chartreuse. The M0-Glo head colors I’m using are either in Pink or Orange.
My clients this morning each had limit and some really big slabs caught so check out my website at www.weisslakecrappieguidealabama.com or give me a call at 256-390-4145 to book your trip on Weiss Lake known as “The Crappie Capital of the World”. As always be safe out there and I’ll see you on the water!
