Weiss Lake Alabama Fishing Report
For week of April 27, 2015
Weiss Lake is at 563 ft. 10 inches today which is 2 inches below full pool of 364 ft. With all the rain the water is stained and water temperature ranges between 66 to 69 degrees depending on how much rain has fallen. Temperatures this week will really take a dive with morning temps in the 40’s by the weekend.
Even with the cooler temperatures the Crappie are still biting. The fish that have already spawned are reversing themselves and headed back out to deeper water. They are staging in pre-spawning areas, and more have pulled off the bank due to the weather and should be in ditches and creeks. We are catching them in 12 to 14 feet of water and some big ones are feeding up.
We are still long line trolling using double 1/24th ounce Bobby Garland Mo Glo Heads. Key colors in the Bobby Garland Slab Slay’R in the stained water have been Blue Ice, Blue Thunder, Black & Chartreuse, and Bubble Gum & Chartreuse.
